1Touch on Mac not working correctly to unlock 1Password since 1 Password upgrade to 7.7

I'm not sure if anyone else is experiencing this, but since the 1Password upgrade to 7.7 (last week) all sorts of inconsistent weird stuff has been happening when I try to use 1Touch to unlock 1Password in order to for 1Password to autofill a username/password at a website login
1. Keyboard shortcut of Command \ no longer works at all - even though it's set as the shortcut in my 1Password preferences
2. Instead, I get a somewhat ugly little window that says type "Shift Command X" to unlock 1Password
3. When I do that, I am prompted to enter my 1Password master password. There is no option for 1touch fingerprint recognition

Also - the 1password icon on the menu bar seems to be totally unrelated to the current version of 1Password. If I click on it, it asks me to login (and I'm already logged in) and then asks me to install the Chrome extension - and that's already been installed.

I did deinstall and removed the 1Password extension from Chrome and then reinstalled. But all of the above problems continued after the reinstall.

I've also rebooted my Mac...

Previous to the latest 1Password upgrade, the whole 1Password process was super smooth. But now, it's as goofy as heck and a bit of PITA.

I'm running:
Mac OS 10.15.7 (Catalina)
Chrome 150
1Password 7.7

1Password Version: 7.7
Extension Version: 1.23
OS Version: 10.15.7
Sync Type: Not Provided

The extension you have installed is 1Password X, not our classic extension. It does not integrate directly with the Mac app, where the classic extension does. The newer extension is capable of working independently without the Mac app. With that said, the 1Password helper at the top our your screen has no knowledge of the newer 1Password extension.

As you noticed 1Password (X) has its own pop up for suggestions within the browser. That being Shift + Command + X. If you like the old interface you can optionally switch back to the classic extension. That will also bring back Touch ID for the classic extension. Late last year Touch ID was removed from the newest extension for a code refresh. That feature has not made it back just yet. Hopefully soon.

    Switch to the classic extension.
