Inline menu and fill not working in Safari

Hello,
I'm a new (potential) 1Password user trying out family subscription, hoping it will work. I downloaded and installed 1Password 7.7 on MacOS Mojave 10.14.6. The desktop app and website (my.1password.com) seem to work fine. The browser extension with the inline dropdown and autofill works fine in Chrome (Version 88.0.4324.150).

However, I'm having trouble with the functionality in Safari (12.1.2.). The extension is installed and I see the 1Password icon in the toolbar as well as inline in form fields. However, the icon doesn't do anything in the inline field - there is no dropdown like there is in Chrome. It only works if I select the toolbar icon which launches the mini 1Password window. Does the inline dropdown not work in this older version of Safari?

I've searched the forum and tried various things to troubleshoot, but have not been able to resolve. Thank you for your help!

    Have you tried completely quitting 1Password?

    • Look for our helper in the menu bar near the WiFi indicator and the clock. Right-click on the helper and select quit 1Password completely. Wait a few seconds and then open 1Password from the Dock or the Applications folder.

    Do you have you vault set to show in 1Password > Preferences > Vaults > Shown in All Vaults?

    Hi, thanks for your response.

    Yes. I quit 1Password and also restarted computer. No change.
    Yes, I have both private and shared vault checked under 1Password Prefs > Vaults > Show in All Vaults.

    It all works when I select the 1P icon in the toolbar that launches the 1P mini window and I can select/create new logins that then populate the username/pwd fields. But, I don't want to launch this extra window every time I log into a site. The 1P icon that does show up inline does nothing when clicked. It is completely unresponsive. No dropdown with Suggestions or prompt to Save in 1P, like in Chrome.

    Please let me know if there is any further information I can provide to help troubleshoot. Thank you.

    @BzAtx:

    If you open 1Password Preferences > Browsers tab, is the option Show inline menu in Safari enabled?

    Yes. It’s enabled, and the icon shows up. The icon goes away if I disable. The issue is that the icon doesn’t work / respond when clicked (no Dropdown-Menu).
