I guess I'm just too dumb to understand this one. ;) LOL

I've read, and re-read, the info on the Secret Key and the Emergency Kit but I still don't fully understand:

  1. Should I scan and save the Emergency Kit on my computer(s).

  2. When will I need it.

  3. Do I share it with trusted family or friend.

Stumped.

Thank you.

    Hi @norm!

Should I scan and save the Emergency Kit on my computer(s).

You do not need to scan it because it's already an electronic document. You should however print it and store it in a safe place. You are certainly also free to keep a copy on your computers if you prefer.

    When will I need it.

In case you forget your login information, when you need to login to your 1Password account on a new device. In this case, you will need to enter your sign in address, Secret Key and Master Password, and the Emergency Kit has all this information:

Get to know your Emergency Kit

Do I share it with trusted family or friend.

That is certainly an option. Some people store it in a safe deposit box, others with family, and others still with both :)
