I recently began using Chrome but have been using 1Password (enterprise) for a long time. I installed the Chrome 1Password X extension but I respond to the prompt "SHIFT-CTRL-X" to unlock 1Password, I am getting a 1Password dialog to "manage profiles". I am unable to use 1PasswordX at all with Chrome. I currently use 1Password (enterprise) with Firefox and I am using 1PasswordX (family) with Firefox with no issues. I checked 1Password settings and do not see a shortcut for "unlock" but I cannot tell that any of th eshortcuts described in the 1password settings are, in fact, working. I also confirmed windows hello can unlock 1Password which is exactly how I unlock 1Password with Firefox.
Any help or pointers appreciated.
Thank you

1Password Version: 7.6.7901
Extension Version: ? latest, just installed 2/16/2021
OS Version: Windows 10
Sync Type: unsure - I run 1Password on all platforms to sync

and... sure enough, shortly after posting that a reboot fixed the problem... I am stuck again. Getting a prompt to unlock 1password but cannot figure out how to do so. CTRL+SHIFT+X gives me a "manage profiles" dialog. Any help greatly appreciated.

    Hey @BG56 ,

It sounds like the keyboard shortcut CTRL+SHIFT+X is already taken in your browser or computer, which is why it doesn't work with 1Password. There are two alternatives to this:

    • You can simply click the 1Password icon on the top right corner of your Chrome's toolbar where all the extensions icons are. If you don't see 1Password there, click on the grey puzzle piece icon, which is where Chrome hides all extensions by default, and pin 1Password to the toolbar. Then, you'll be able to unlock 1Password by simply clicking its icon instead of using the keyboard shortcut.
    • You can change 1Password's keyboard shortcut to something else: Right click the 1Password icon on the top right corner of Chrome's toolbar and select "Settings" -> Scroll down to the "Shortcuts" section and click the link there. You'll be able to select the current keyboard shortcut and press any other shortcut on your keyboard to replace it. You might have to try several different ones until you find one that is available and works.

As for your Firefox - you might be using 1Password Classic there, which is a different extension. We do recommend using 1Password in the browser (AKA 1Password X), but you can keep using 1Password Classic if you prefer. :)

    Hi ag_yaron,
This is 1passwordX and I don't see the usual 1password icon top right of the toolbar. I use 1password classic on my work laptop where I see that icon and it works just fine. I have to use Chrome for a new company tool and when I was prompted to install a 1password extension, 1password X was installed. I was not seeing the 1password icon as I did not realize with chrome I had to pin the extension using extension settings. After doing that, I was able to change the shortcut and it appears to be working.

    Thank you for the help

    Ag_yaron,
Again... thanks for your help. I have Chrome working just fine but I have to say, it is disappointing to see Windows Hello is not yet integrated with the `1passwordX. Also, I don't see a way to use 1password classic as an extension for Chrome so I can resume using Windows Hello to unlock 1password. Did I miss that option somewhere?
    Thank you again, Bennie

    Hey @BG56 ,
    Glad I could help.

Windows Hello integration will soon reach 1Password in the browser (AKA 1Password X), so I would recommend sticking to it, since it provides a better autofilling experience (when it is unlocked). Instead of switching to the 1Password Classic extension, I'd recommend you adjust the auto-lock settings and change your Master Password to a strong worded/memorable password which is easier to type: https://1password.com/password-generator/?type=memorable

If you still prefer to work with 1Password Classic (the one you have on your other computer), here's how to get it.

Lack of Windows Hello is what keeps me on the classic extension. Is there anywhere (eg rss feed, newsletter, even twitter) I can get notified of new 1PasswordX releases (given I don't have it installed) to keep an eye out for this?

  • @crisbennett

I would recommend keeping an eye on the forum. I would also think we may make an announcement via various other social media platforms. Our newsletter sign-up link is here.

Thanks @ag_tommy. Keeping an eye on forums isn't scalable (I use too much software), but I'll sign up for the newsletter which might remind me to check back on 1PasswordX

  • You're welcome. :chuffed:
