New frustrating changes: Editing a login opens 1password in browser? Autofill is broken?
Now when I go to edit a login instead of staying in 1password mini it opens in a browser window. Last thing I need is more browser tabs... and it feels less secure (maybe it's just as secure?). Is there a setting to keep that work in the mini window?
Also, the browser autofill I was used to seems to have broken in a recent update. 1password seems to have over-ridden the Chrome auto-fill, and 1password is not doing it at all consistently. Can I go back to that being a Chrome function or make 1password work for this?
AND, now when I login into 1pass in say Chrome, it doesn't log me into the mac app - I seem to have to login to each separately, whereas it used to all be connected - login to one you're logged into all formats.

The extension you have installed is likely 1Password in the browser (formerly 1Password X), not our classic extension. It does not integrate directly with the Mac app, where the classic extension does. The newer extension is capable of working independently without the Mac app. With that said, the 1Password helper at the top our your screen has no knowledge of the newer 1Password extension. That is why you would see a message to add the extension.
1Password in the browser has its own pop up for suggestions. That being Shift + Command + X.

Let me see if I can figure out what you're saying. I'm not seeing any message to add anything, so I'm not sure what that's about. Is there a reason not to go back to classic? Because the integration with the app was a time (and tab) saver.
Do you have any ideas about why autofill stopped working well?

If you were accustomed to the old mini at the top of the screen, you would see a message about adding the extension. That's because 1Password does not know of its existence.
I much rather prefer 1Password in the browser vs. the classic extension. It can handle more complicated login pages and can autofill TOTP codes. I was a hold out on the classic extension for a long time. Grudgingly, I switched over to 1Password in the browser about a year ago. I can't go back now.
As to Autofill, by quitting both, it should allow the communication to return.
1. Quit Chrome.
2. Look for our helper in the menu bar near the WiFi indicator and the clock. Right-click on the helper and select quit 1Password completely. Wait a few seconds and then open 1Password from the Dock or the Applications folder.- Make sure you only have one copy installed in your browser. Multiple copies can cause communication issues.

Hey that's clear and useful. And your experience with the new one is good to know - maybe I'll experiment and see if I also see the value. Thx so much.

On behalf of ag_tommy, you're most welcome :)
We hope you find the new 1Password in the browser as useful and as fun to have as we do. Also - yes it is completely secure to edit your items in your browser just as it is on your 1Password desktop app/mini! :chuffed:
