Backups in 1Password 7

How do you create a backup and restore from a backup in 1Password 7? All I can find on the 1Password web site is this page which is totally useless. It essentially says "we keep it all online so you never need a backup!" the problem is, I had my passwords get corrupted somehow and lost almost 90% of them. The only thing that saved me was the fact that I had recently 'upgraded' to 1P7 and still had the old 1P6 backup file.

At this point, I don't trust the integrity or backup of 1P7's online account. Is there no other way other than to trust the system that has already failed?
