Detailed guide how to build a form that works best with 1Password

Options

I read the guide Design your website to work best with 1Password
,

In the guide it says:

Password change forms: To make the intention of each form element clear on password change forms, ask for the current password, the new password, and a password confirmation in that order.

But I still have some questions about this topic:

1. Reset password

Scenario: I'm building a page for the user to reset the password. It only asks for the new password and password confirmation. We don't ask for the current password because the user does not know it. (it's a page with unique URL sent by e-mail)

Problem: 1PW does not catch the new password. How can we solve this?

2. Dealing with multiple logins on the same page

On some sites, I have multiple logins. How does 1PW know each password should be updated?

Thank you.

  • Hey @sandrina_remote! On that password reset page, are you making use of the autocomplete="new-password" attribute for both of those fields? For the multiple login question, can you clarify for me what you mean? If the password isn't already stored, then 1Password will prompt — it doesn't really matter how many logins you have.
