Edge extension not updated to 2.0

I saw the blog post about the update to the browser extension to 2.0 but when I went to check for updates it says I am on the latest version (1.24.2). Has the edge extension not been updated? If not will it be soon?

We have submitted v2 to Microsoft for review. With any luck, it should be released shortly. Alternatively, as Edge is chromium based, you can install the Chrome extension:

Do you have any experience on whether the Microsoft review process tends to be slower or more difficult than Chrome?

I'm working on removing Google from my life completely and while YouTube is an ongoing process, the Chrome extension store is an easier target as currently I only have a couple extensions coming from Google.

It isn't the end of the world to still use Chrome's extension store for this purpose, and with many extensions I don't really mind a wait, but for security critical things like 1Password, staying up to date might be more important than minor anonymous interactions with Google.

Hey @TheDave ,

There's no specific known delay with Edge's extensions store that we know of, but we do encounter delays in each browser's extensions store once in a while. Last update it was Firefox who took a long time to review and approve the update, and before that it was Chrome. There's really no way to tell how long a review process will take.

In this case, you can keep the current stable version of Edge as there are no security-related updates in the latest version that is pending review, but you can also install it from Chrome if you'd like to enjoy the new features such as allowing the extension to integrate with your desktop app :)

Edge now has v2.0.1 - right click on the icon and click "Check for updates" if it hasn't automatically updated yet. Very happy to finally get it!

Although if you go to the Microsoft Edge Addons site, the old version is still shown:

Version 2.0.2 is now the latest, so only Microsoft knows when that will be approved:
