Ask to save password when updating
Hello,
Recently I have been changing a few passwords & 1passsword does not seem to recognize that I am changing passwords & does not ask me if this new password is an update.
I used a password generator that I have used for years I copy/paste the password & save & 1password does not recognize that I have done so. Is this normal??
I want as many passwords to be 25 characters or more if possible & I am doing an inventory of my passwords & noticed this issue.
fyi... when using the 1password password changer it works but occasionally makes duplicates of the site I am changing

Hi @kram5819!
I used a password generator that I have used for years I copy/paste the password & save & 1password does not recognize that I have done so. Is this normal??
Can you give us a numbered list of steps to reproduce this, so we see exactly the process you are following? We can then test it and see if we can reproduce this behavior here too. Thank you!

Sure,
keep in mind this is happening on my Chromebook I already have these items saved in my 1password, so I log in to a website and go to the change password area, and attempt to change my password. IF I change it using anything except 1passwords suggestion of a new password say for example when I use https://passwordsgenerator.net/ and generate a password once it is changed, 1password does not ask IF I want to save the new password I have to edit it & copy/paste & save the new password. Is that how it is supposed to work?I would think no matter what process you use IF you change your password 1password should "ask" if you want to save it? Right?

Hey @kram5819 ,
The browser extension does not pop up on its own and asks if you want to save/update. You need to trigger it by clicking the "Save in 1Password" button that shows up under the field you just filled before sending the form.
You are correct that when using the built-in generator it will automatically trigger that popup, but you are still the one who triggered it initially by selecting a new password, which is the equivalent of clicking the "Save in 1Password" button below the field.
In case there's no "Save in 1Password" button under the field you are typing in, you can also trigger the save/update prompt by right clicking 1Password's icon on the top right corner of the browser and selecting "Save Login".
