Firefox extension not connecting to 1Password mini or desktop app

I am using Firefox ext 2.0.2 and 1Password 7.8.5 in Mac OS Big Sur. I also have the 1Password mini. In the past, I pressed command-\ to open 1Password mini to autofill passwords into Firefox.

With the new Firefox extension, 1Password mini says that I need to install the 1Password extension in my web browser (which it already is). When I try to use the Firefox extension (clicking or pressing command-.), it requires me to type in my password, rather than using TouchID. When I open 1Password mini or the 1Password app, it allows me to use TouchID. Even if the app is already opened and unlocked, Firefox still makes me type in my password. How can I use TouchID to autofill passwords in Firefox? Why is my Firefox extension not communicating with the other 1Password apps on my computer?

1Password in the browser does not communicate directly with the mini, so to speak. We recently introduced the Touch ID integration, but the mini at this point does not know about 1Password in the browser. It continues to suggest the one it would know about our classic extension. I hope that ability is next on those crafty developers agenda.
