1Password extension in safari not working - ver 7.8.5 Catalina 10.15.7

I've removed the extension several times / added it again with safari restarts but nothing helps.
The little 1password popup window shows in password fields but clicking on the button doesn't do anything. 1password app is open at all times.

How to fix this problem?

    1. Quit 1Password completely by holding down the Control and Option keys on your keyboard and choose 1Password > Quit 1Password Completely from the menu bar beside the  logo.
    2. Quit Safari.
    3. Open and unlock 1Password.
    4. Open your browser and test again to see if the issue is resolved.

    Hi, still the same. Pop up shows but when i click on the “Unlock 1Password” button nothing happens.

    The browser extension button for 1Password is also unresponsive.

    Let's get a better look at what's going on. I'd like to ask you to create a diagnostics report from your Mac and send it to support@1password.com and link this forum discussion. We'll take a look and let you know what we find.
