Changed master password not applicable everywhere
Hi, so many categories in this forum, hope I chose the right one.
I have an account, use the Chrome browser extension, sometimes the Safari extension and I have the 1Password 7 app on my Mac. Next to that I use 1Password on my iPhone, Macbook and iPad.
I recently changed my master password and now I am confused. The Chrome extension still only accepts the old master pw, but when I want to unlock 1Pw from a login screen for a website, it only accepts my new master pw. I often make typos in both passwords so it often takes me a while to understand which password is needed (and then type it right). This is getting to be a bit annoying. Is there a way to synchronize the master password across all options?
1Password Version: 7.7
Extension Version: 2.0.2
OS Version: OSX 11.4
Sync Type: iCloud

Hi @debstar73!
It sounds like some of your devices are configured with an additional vault that is not present on all of the other devices. The way 1Password unlocks is:
- If a Primary vault exists, then it unlocks using the Master Password for that vault, regardless of what, if any, memberships are signed in
- If a single 1Password membership is signed in, then it unlocks using the Master Password for that membership account
- If multiple memberships are signed in, then it unlocks using the Master Password of the first added membership
These are each exclusive scenarios. For example, if multiple memberships are signed in, you cannot unlock 1Password using the Master Password of the second account that was added.
In your specific case, it sounds like you might have a Primary vault inside your 1Password for Mac app. Can you check if that is indeed the case?

Hi, thanks for your reply! I opened the Mac app and it looks like I have a Personal vault that I use and a Primary vault. The primary one is labelled to be the one synced to iCloud.
Should I just delete that one? All my passwords are in the Personal vault. Or is deactivating (unchecking) it enough?0 -
Thank you for checking this! The Primary vault is what is causing this :) To configure this properly, you will need to remove it. If you already have everything inside your Personal vault, you can remove the old Primary vault from the app: from the menu bar, choose Vault > Switch to Vault > Primary, and then Choose Vault > Delete Vault.
If you have some items that you still have in your Primary vault which you would like to keep, you can move them to your Personal vault first:
Move and copy items

Yes, that did the trick. Thanks!
