Has the standalone option been intentionally removed from 7.8.6 on Mac?

I just tried setting up 1Password 7.8.6 on a Mac (10.15.7). The option for standalone is not there. I reinstalled using a 7.8.5 installer and it's back. Is this intentional?

The option is still present in 7.8.6 on my end.

I've seen the same thing on two more Macs today. The option is there in 7.8.5:

But after installing 7.8.6, then beginning setup, it's gone:

I did discover that applying the standalone license, then restarting 1Password, changed the blue button to "I'm a new user" and clicking that created a standalone vault.

I'm sorry, I thought you were talking about enabling the option within the 1Password > Advanced > Preferences. I'll poke the team and see what I can find out. I was able to reproduce your results.

I checked with the team. There are several things at play here.

    1. You'll need to apply a license to the installation to expose that ability. From the menu bar 1Password > License...

Standalone licenses are not longer for sale. If you do not have one you will need a 1Password membership. https://1password.community/discussion/comment/601917/#Comment_601917
