1password accounts and shared vault

Is creating an account mandatory for 1password? I do not want my vault to be on a publicly accessible site using a web browser.

Using a family subscription, where can the family members store their vaults? Are dropbox and iCloud still available as options? Even if we do not share any vaults between us?

How is access granted to a shared vault? Would them family members have their keys added to the shared vault?

Also, I understand that you aren no longer selling 1password perpetual licenses for any versions? I was planning on migrating to Big Sur but currently on 1password 6.

    Thanks for taking the time to write in, and for your interest in getting your family set up with 1Password. 1Password Families will include the latest versions of the 1Password apps for all invited family members on all of their compatible devices. As you noted, we no longer sell licenses, and as such membership is the way forward. You can learn about sharing vaults with 1Password Families in this guide:
