Command-\ shortcut not working in Safari

I have the Safari extension installed and enabled, and 1Password8 is set to “Connect with 1Password in the browser”, yet the Command-\ shortcut seems not to do anything for me when trying to fill in a login and password in a web page.

I can click in the field and I get the pop-over menu though and I can also click on the Extension icon in the Safari toolbar to see the available logins, but the shortcut itself doesn’t work…
I know there is still work underway for the shortcuts in the early access builds, but I thought that the ones that were already implemented should work…

Currently CMD+\ will only work if you have a single Login saved for the site you wish to fill. When you have multiple Logins saved for the site, you'll have to either autofill from the inline menu or the extension pop-up itself. We hope to have this resolved in an upcoming release. Apologies for the disruption to your workflow in the meantime.
