Hi 😁

Before entering this community I contacted one of your coleagues by mail
I asked the following questiom and got the answer below.

I am still puzzling with the login field : with fritz.box or 192.168…….
There’s a login item called wireless router but still getting this error …
What to fill into the login item to enter without any error

Do you need more info from me ?

Question (old)

For my router (fritzbox) I stored the login password in the vault. When logging in I get a warning when I log in to fritz.box (http://192.168…….) 1password gives me a warning that the login field does not contain a website (url). Right, there’s only a password.
Should I fill in the fritz.box or http:// address in the login field?
Or will that result in a another warning based on the fact that http is not secure 😀

Answer from 1password by mail

For your router you can create an item under the category Wireless Router - this has all the fields you might want to save for your router and you don’t need to include a URL. You can add just the IP address.

  • Hi @F_9083x,

Thanks for writing in about this. 1Password is only able to fill items from the Login, Credit Card, and Identity categories.

For the way I've always used 1Password, I have two items for my network. One item was an item in the Wireless Router category. This item stores the network SSID itself, the password for the network (not the username and password to manage it), and any other details about the network. I then have a separate Login item that contains the username and password to log into the management interface, as well as the URL to manage it.

This is completely up to your preference, and there's no one right way to do this. If you'd prefer to keep everything in a single item, you can also store the management username and password in the Wireless Router item, and just have a single item. Doing it this way however means you cannot easily autofill the username and password when you would like to login to make changes.

If you do decide to make two separate items, I would recommend using http://fritz.box as the URL for the Login item. To hide the HTTP warning, adding the tag http to the item will act as a workaround to not alert you about it.

    Cheers!

Tried to make login item without username (because not needed) and password and the http adress and tag.
Loging in gives an error ..saying incorrect password?. When I copy the password and paste it from the vault I am in , so
    nothing wrong with my password.
Think I leave it this way . Autofill is no success with this login item. Have some other and same issues now with the new extension in ios
    Will try later👍
