Were you trying to install as a standard user or as an admin? I saw some mention somewhere on the forum that one needed to install as an admin.

i have discussed the issue with support. i did not see the requirement to install as an admin. we'll see what support says about how to proceed.0 -
This is a known issue that we hope to get resolved. For now you'll need to install 1Password 8 using the admin account.
