1 Password 8 for Mac - generating/saving a password via the Safari extension doesn't work

I was trying to save a Safari extension generated password using the extension while filling in a form, but although it shows me a generated password, when the login gets saved the password is empty. Seems a pretty basic defect?
1Password Version: 8.2.2
Extension Version: 2.1.3
OS Version: macOS 12.0
