Sync Primary vault with iCloud

Hello,

I'm trying to sync my 1Password vault with iCloud Drive. However, when viewing Preferences / Sync and choosing to use iCloud to sync I get these non-descript errors:

1Password found existing data in iCloud. It will be merged with your current vault.

When proceeding I see:

However, my iCloud drive does not have any vault other than the new one I just placed into it (from 2021)

How do I find this mysterious vault which 1Pass sees and I do not?

1Password Version: 7.9.1
Extension Version: Not Provided
OS Version: 12.0.1

    I hope that you have better luck than we did. 1PW Support informed us that they do not troubleshoot iCloud issues and told us to buy a subscription for a "better experience." iCloud and Wi-Fi syncing will be removed in 1PW8.

    Hi @Scientifik!

    However, when viewing Preferences / Sync and choosing to use iCloud to sync I get these non-descript errors:

    What makes you say that the error messages are non-descript? The description seems pretty clear, but if you have ideas on how to make it more descriptive, please let me know and I will be happy to pass the suggestion to the developers :+1:

    1Password found existing data in iCloud. It will be merged with your current vault.

    The message is telling you that 1Password has already found an old 1Password vault in your iCloud. If you are absolutely sure that the vault shouldn't be there, have you perhaps used a different Apple ID?

    In any case, if you believe that this vault does not hold any important information, you can reset your iCloud data in 1Password to remove it :+1:

    @wavesound:

    That is correct, 1Password.com will be the only sync option moving forward. In case you haven't seen this before though, we have a troubleshooting article for iCloud:

    If you're having trouble syncing with iCloud

    We are unfortunately not able to troubleshoot iCloud issues beyond this article, since we don't have any visibility into it.

    @Martinoo:

    I have also sync problem

    What sync problem are you experiencing exactly?

    I try but on the app or in the website dashboard is not working

    Can you please elaborate? What happens when you tried? Do you get an error message?

    Hi @ag_ana !
    Well the error is non descript because "found data" denotes that what it found is not a vault. Now that being said, I do not have a vault within my iCloud drive.

    Do you see the issue?

    If the "data" is in fact an old vault file, we would need an option to ignore or at least give the actual filename and its location. In my situation there is no .opvault files within my iCloud drive. So this is a bug and the error message lends to purposefully denying iCloud use.

    I think there is a mismatch of expectations here. 1Password does not sync with iCloud Drive. It syncs with CloudKit, which is Apple's database-based storage for apps syncing with iCloud (vs iCloud Drive which is file based). With CloudKit there is no .opvault file or anything you'll find in Finder. The screenshots in your original post indicate you do indeed currently have 1Password data (a vault) stored in CloudKit.

    You can clear the existing vault out of CloudKit by selecting Help > Troubleshooting > Reset iCloud Data from the 1Password menu bar. This would allow you to then sync what is currently in 1Password with CloudKit without merging with any other sources. That said, as Ana mentioned above, 1Password.com will be the only available sync option going forward, and so I'd recommend migrating to that as soon as possible to avoid interruption. You can reach our specialists on this situation at support+tradein@1password.com. I hope that helps!
