Touch ID Does Not Work

Greetings 1PW,

When I click on the fingerprint icon upon opening 1PW, a window flashes on/off quickly but I can't use my finger to log in on my Magic Keyboard (M1 iMac). I've unselected and reselected Touch ID in Pref>Security that I found in another post but no luck.

Also, my Apple Watch no longer opens it either. And I did the same pref toggle.

I'd appreciate some guidance. Thanks.

I had the same problem , I fixed it by deleting finger print and redoing the bio process . But Touch ID was greyed out Pref>Security in the password app . Once I redone the bio process( new finger print ) it started working .

This worked! Thank you so much. My bad for assuming 1PW was the issue. :)

    @ ag_ana.

I think they got it wrong , id touch is greyed out and unclickable , when this happens , I have to add a new fingerprint , to get to work again , and before everything was ok , it happens on both accounts on the Mac , its like some one or something is disabling this function , as everything else works using ID touch . It has happened 3 times this week with the Touch ID .

    Hi Andrew!

My name is Dayton from 1Password Customer Support. It's great to meet you!

Thanks so much for writing in, and including this diagnostics report! I'm really sorry you're running into an issue with 1Password. Based on your diagnostics report, it appears that you may have run into an issue with Touch ID being available to unlock 1Password 7. We're working on tracking down the source of this issue.

In the meantime, some users have found that they can resolve this by removing their fingerprint and re-adding it - could you give that a shot and let me know if that resolves this issue for you?

    Thanks Andrew!

We've been looking into this issue and it seems that something is happening in Monterey specifically, which is separating the keychain from the secure enclave (since the way that 1Password uses the secure enclave -> keychain relationship is a bit different, other apps don't seem to be affected).

Would you be willing to give these steps a shot? By moving the Keychain out of its standard directory, the operating system is forced to create a new keychain and link it to the Enclave, which should be a more-permanent fix for this issue:

Create a full backup of your Mac. Do not skip this step.
Open the Terminal app from the Utilities folder of your Mac.
Copy and paste this command in Terminal and press Return:
    mv ~/Library/Keychains ~/Desktop
After running the command, restart your Mac.
If you're able to give that a go, let me know if you see good results. Thanks Andrew, I really appreciate your help!

Here is a perm workaround when I've do it I let you guys know .

I deleted the fingerprints and added them back in and while I haven’t done a ton of testing it resolved the issue. Will advise if it reappears.
