Windows app decided my imported passwords were notes

1Password has entries for my imported passwords - displayed on the page. But when I go in to the pages, it doesn't autofill unless I create it again by copying my username and exposed password from the app. That's unsafe and annoying. So please give me a bulk fix, as there are many passwords for which I have this problem.

  • Hi @gregdarcy:

This definitely doesn't sound like the experience we want you to have getting started with 1Password, and I'm sorry you had trouble during the import process.

If you are able to provide more specifics about how you imported your items into 1Password (what file format, whether you used 1Password.com or one of our apps to import), I'll be able to assist you further, or get you in touch with our dedicated concierge team. Let me know!

I imported them as CSV. They imported fine, and 1Password didn't signal any errors. I think it started when I created a vault and moved everything to that vault. I wanted to organize them and not have them all stored in the personal vault.

Isn't there a mass fix, where I can just highlight the problem entries and select something from the menu?

I am afraid this does not exist, but we can still try to understand what might be causing this in the first place. You wrote "1Password has entries for my imported passwords - displayed on the page.", do those entries also include a username and a website URL, or just simple passwords?

I also need a solution for this for a slightly different issue. I think the problem for both of us is that we did not correctly name the columns before the import. What should have been the Password column got labeled as the Note column.
In my case I did another import and correctly labeled each column, but now I have two items for each remembered password, one for the original, incorrect import, and one for the new, correct import.
I need to be able to either delete all of the incorrect entries in bulk or delete everything and start over.

  • Hi @christinebender:

Do you have a tag that looks something like this?

If you have a tag for the original import, does selecting it show all of your items that were imported incorrectly? From there you should be able to go through and delete your items in bulk. Let me know how that goes!

Thanks! I was able to do what I needed to in the desktop app. If anyone else has this issue, go into the desktop app and sort by date. Then you can delete everything from the incorrect import.

Thanks for the tip, @christinebender - this is a good one, and I think folks will find it helpful! 👍
