Fill in browser is still broken in 1Password 8

This still does not work, some four months after 8 went into early access. When is it planned to be fixed?
My Fill In Browser shortcut is Command-\
I press that and the 1Password unlock "box" comes up. I use touch ID, and it goes away.
Then nothing happens. No fill in. I can press it any number of times, nothing happens.
Safari's Autofills are 1. Using info from my contacts and 3. Credit Cards (mostly because 1password never works)
This always worked when I had 7 installed. 7 is no longer installed.
I would love to have a functioning product again. Thank you.

P.S. I find if i click the little 1password icon in the username field, something "unlocks" and then the shortcut will work.
