Had 1password7 on, but it froze - wouldn't allow reset or all the ways to turn off stuck programs. Tried to do it by restarting the computer, but the computer won't restart if there is a program still running. HELP!

  • Hello @jpbirding! 👋

I'm sorry to hear that 1Password 7 is frozen on your Mac. Are you able to right-click on the 1Password icon in the menubar (top right corner of your Mac) and then click Quit 1Password Completely? This should allow you to close 1Password and restart your Mac.

If that doesn't work then try using Activity Monitor to close 1Password 7:

    1. In the Finder, click Go menu > Utilities.
    2. Open Activity Monitor and click the CPU tab.
    3. Search for "1Password"
    4. Select all matching processes with ⌘–A or Edit menu > Select All.
    5. Click the 🛑 force quit button in the toolbar and Force Quit.
    6. When all processes disappear, reopen 1Password normally.

Let me know if that helps. :)

Thanks for your help - I've discovered that this is an Apple problem, not a 1Password 7 problem!

  • @jpbirding I'm happy that you were able to find the cause of the issue. :)
