Option to unlock with Apple Watch randomly disappears

Noticed that randomly the option under Security → Unlock → Apple Watch will disappear, normally until a full reboot is done. Apple Watch unlock is enabled under System Pref → Security & Privacy.

I'm currently on 80500125 Nightly.

  • Hi folks, thanks for letting us know about this. It does look like we've seen some issues around this, and I'd like to see if we can reproduce the issue more specifically - potentially whether it's related to Touch ID / biometrics settings on the device. Any additional that comes to mind that you'd like to share will be welcome!

    Hi @PeterG_1P,

I use 1Password on two Mac that support unlocking with my AppleWatch. I see this issue far more frequently on my iMac (no TouchID) than on my MacBook Pro (which offers TouchID).
As a side note, I find the UI a bit unclear too. On my MacBook Pro (with TouchID), I see the TouchID logo when I need to unlock, but no mention whatsoever to AppleWatch. I know I can use it because the Watch itself vibrates and presents a prompt asking me whether I want to unlock. Could 1Password tell me I can use my watch to unlock as well?

Let em know if you need any additional information.

  • Hi @cortig:

Thanks for asking about this. The text shown in the dialog is fixed and controlled by macOS, and isn't something we can configure. I wish I had a more satisfying answer for you, but at this time it simply isn't something we can change.
