1password to press 'enter' and not just autofill

Options

Hi,

I've searched for the answer but can't find it. 1password (or the extension in chrome) used to press enter after filling in the [username] and [password] . Now I always have to press enter myselves. Is there a setting to stop pressing the enter button manually ?

1Password Version: 8.5.0

  • Hi @starwolfer:

Autosubmit was removed from the 1Password apps a few years ago. In short there's a few reasons why:
    1. On occasion, the 1Password extension would get the filling wrong, and you'd end up with a bad login attempt.
    2. On other platforms, we became more limited in how we could autosubmit. On Mac, security changes meant we could no longer simulate pressing the Return key.

While a bit of a change, pressing Enter or clicking "Log in" or similar after autofilling your Login item should get you going!

2 is not correct, you can totally simulate whatever you'd like using javascript injection via the chrome browser extension

  • Hey @krisbrethower:

To ensure everyone has a consistent experience, no matter which browser they're using, when the security changes were rolled out that changed this behavior in Safari, we decided to make these changes for the 1Password experience in other browsers as well.
