Hello,

seems like Vivaldi Snapshot has trouble unlocking with Touch ID. Regular Vivaldi has not trouble.

There is already this thread, but wondering if anything changed related to that.

Long story short, is this what to expect for Vivaldi Snapshot? Anything to prevent this?

1Password Version: 1Password for Mac 8.6.0 80600068, on BETA channel
Extension Version: 2.3.2
OS Version: macOS 12.2.1

Hey @dawe! That thread is actually pretty dated. From the looks of it, there was a discussion around our classic extension in Vivaldi Snapshot, and our new extension was suggested for a better experience. However, at the time, the new extension did not support Touch ID.

There have been a number of changes since then, and our new extension can now be unlocked with Touch ID. That said, this would only apply to browsers that we officially support. So while Touch ID can be used with Vivaldi (if you have the beta version of the app), it cannot be used in Vivaldi Snapshot. Unfortunately, Vivaldi Snapshot is not officially supported by our new extension at this time.

I would recommend using Vivaldi (or any of these) to make the best of 1Password in the browser. In the meantime, I can leave feedback to our developers about supporting Vivaldi Snapshot. I've actually come across a few requests for this in the last week or two, so I can see that it's something that is important. Hopefully, we will be able to work on this in a future release.

Let us know if you have any other questions!

I think it's important to emphasize that supporting Vivaldi Snapshot is not primarily about accommodating the preferences of some users; instead, it is about being able to notice potential issues between 1Password and a new Vivaldi version early, so they can get fixed before the changes hit the release channel and cause problems for all regular Vivaldi users.

@NSPredicate I understand - I will specifically share your comment there with our developers.
