[Feature request] Maintain 1Password in winget-pkgs

Would be great if you could maintain 1Password in Winget (winget-pkgs).

The newest version as of writing, v8.4.1, even fails to install for me.

What repo I'm talking about:

There is also coming a feature to the repo that makes it so that you can claim ownership to your own stuff, so that you know others can't modify 1Password in Winget on your behalf.

Since you ain't doing native Microsoft Store anytime soon, mayhaps you can do this for us instead? :)

  • Hello @olavrb, thank you for this request!

First, I'm sorry to learn that you're having installation trouble. If you can send us a quick email at support+windows@1Password.com, we'll be happy to help you out with that (and provide a more recent version, too!). 👍

I have also filed a feature request with our developers to publish future updates to Winget. My understanding is that the repo you've linked to here is a community or third-party repo, and not one published by Agilebits.

We do want to make sure we're providing software in channels that really work for everyone's use case, so I'll be happy to follow up on this for you, and hope that future developments will meet with your approval!

    Hi @PeterG_1P

I managed to get 1Password installed using the latest EXE installer. I also ended up creating a install script that can be used in Intune, that always fetches the latest version. So I'm good for now. :)

If you maintained 1Password in the winget-pkgs repo, it would make it even easier for your users to install your software.

  • Hi @olavrb, thanks for the update, and it's good to know that you have a solution that works for you.

We're always looking to make the 1Password packages accessible, so I appreciate your suggestion here. And I'll follow this request as things progress!
