After the last Google chrome update, 1password now tells me that it can't detect the browser i am using. I am on 1password 7.9.2 and i have even uninstalled and reinstalled the 1password extensions (4.7.5.90 for 1Password extension (desktop app required) and 2.3.0 1Password – Password Manager. As a result, touch ID doesn't seem to work either.

1Password Version: 7.9.2
Extension Version: 2.3.0
OS Version: Big Sur 11.6.1

This is happening to me as well with 1Password version 7.9.3, Mac OS version 12.2.1 (21D62), iPassword Browser Extension 2.3.0, Chrome 99.0.4844.83 (Official Build) (arm64). I have restarted both applications (1P and Chrome) the OS and not sure what is the issue.

Hey @terps87 and @bastula! On March 15, Google released Chrome 99, which contained a new code signing certificate. Our developers had to make some changes in order to get things working again. You will need to be running the latest version of the 1Password app to get these fixes.

To make sure you're up to date on everything:

    1. Follow this guide (from Google) to update to the latest version of Chrome: https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/95414
    2. Follow this guide to make sure you are running the latest version of 1Password in Chrome: https://support.1password.com/update-1password-browser/#chrome
    3. Follow this guide to update 1Password 7 for Mac to the latest version (as of today those version are 1Password v7.9.3 or 1Password v7.9.4-BETA-0): https://support.1password.com/update-1password/?mac

Note, if you have the classic extension (v. 4.7.5.90) installed, please remove it so that it does not cause a conflict with the new extension.

If you are running those latest versions and are still having trouble, please restart your computer. If that doesn't resolve things, please let me know.

Hey @Joy_1P, I tried all of these solutions but none were successful :(. However I did swap from the Mac App Store version of 1Password 7.9.3 to the downloaded version from your website and that seemed to do the trick!

Is there a possible bug in the MAS version?

Thanks very much for the advice. After updating 1password, removing extensions, installing extensions, updating google chrome and rebooting my machine it appears to be working.

  • Hey @terps87:

Glad to hear updating 1Password and restarting your computer got everything working again. Feel free to get in touch if you need anything in the future!

    Jack
