New install opens up both 8 and 7.
I have installed Beta 8. Before installing it I had completely logged out of 1Password 7.
Now after successful install when Beta 8 stars along with it 1PW 7 also starts. Why that should happen? It totally confuses the user. Also if the beta is opened and the necessary browser plugins not installed we should warn the user that it will not work in browser.
Thanks,
Abhijit

This is a good question... Maybe someone from 1Password is able to jump in here. 😉

Hi folks! Sorry to learn you encountered this issue @Abhijit.
While I'm not sure of the specifics on why both would launch under this scenario (there are a couple possibilities that come to mind off-hand), I can confirm that it's because of the parallel installation of 1Password 7 and 8 on the same user account on the same device.
The fix is to uninstall 1Password 7, as @DenalB suggested - and we'll take a look at what we can do from our end to avoid this scenario in the future.
Thanks for reporting the issue!

Thanks @PeterG_1P!
Isn't is possible that I have both the installs simultaneously. In critical situations I can work with tried and tested 1PW 7 otherwise experiment and play with 1PW 8? I will ensure that one of them is only running and other is exited. Both the browser plugin will be enabled.
Thoughts?
Thanks,

It is something a few of our team members do out of necessity, but it isn't a great experience, and not something I could recommend. The app is pretty quick to install. I'd recommend uninstalling v7 but keeping the installer around for the odd occasion you find you need it. When you do, quit 1Password 8 completely, and then install v7. Make sure only one or the other is configured to connect to the browser extension if you're going to try switching back and fourth. Those are my thoughts, anyway. 😅

I am still loving the 1PW 7 as finding many issues with 8 which interrupts my flows.
Please feel free to start threads on those issues, if threads don't already exist. 😃
Or I should have multiple machines like Dave. :-)
Multiple machines is a blessing and a curse. For every piece of software I use, I have multiple machines to update (and potentially reboot). It's quite the dance on days Apple or Brave release updates, for example. 😅
