When/why use 1Password desktop application vs 1Password.com web app
I'm a newbie. I just installed 1P and after two days I remain confused as to why there is a local Windows app/implementation and the 1password.com version. Once logged in I find the two environments are quite similar. Which should I use when?

Hi @BennytheDog
Both are currently important parts of our offering. The 1Password.com web app (https://start.1password.com) offers some management capabilities not yet available in the desktop applications, such as the ability to invite family members. On the other hand the desktop apps tend to be preferred for day-to-day use as they offer deeper integration with your system, such as the ability to unlock 1Password using Windows Hello, and mutual unlock with the browser extension.
Use Windows Hello to unlock 1Password on your Windows PC
For functions that exist in both, such as creating and editing items, it is entirely up to you which you choose to use. My recommendation would be the desktop app, but it largely comes down to preference. I hope that helps!
