Windows - Stop Firefox Extension Locking When Closing Browser
Hello.
I'm a new customer and likely an ex one shortly if the answer is what I think it will be as sadly 1Password won't meet my needs =)
I need the browser addon to stay signed in/unlocked, even when I close the browser and reopen it.
I am aware you've set it to lock when the browser is restarted.
There was talk about you fixing this, so it stays unlocked when the desktop app is unlocked but some of these posts from staff here and on reddit are many months old now...
Is this going to be implemented soon?
I don't believe it prudent to downgrade to 7 and use legacy browser addons when this functionality should naturally already be present in the supposedly latest and greatest iteration of your software.
Currently, unlocking the desktop app has zero bearing on the browser addon. So I have to unlock my desktop app (once, when I turn on my PC) then unlock the browser app separately. I can take doing this when I turn on my machine but not each time I restart the browser (for the addon).
If I could get confirmation on if and when the browser addon change will be made that'd be great!
Many Thanks.
1Password Version: 8
Extension Version: 8
OS Version: Windows 11

Hi @Eloi !
If you are using 1Password 8 for Windows and the latest 1Password in the browser extension, then you should be able to "connect" both. So you don't have to unlock the extension every time you close and start Firefox.
You should enable
Integrate with 1Password app
in the browser extension. Also, the setting
Connect with 1Password in the browser
should be enabled in 1Password 8 for Windows.Could you please check if both settings are enabled?

Hello @DenalB
Many thanks the response.
Indeed, both of those options were checked already on the Desktop app and in the Browser addon.
The desktop app is unlocked. When I open Firefox, the addon is locked. I unlock it (with master password) and then close the browser, reopen and the browser addon is locked again.

Hello @Eloi, I'm sorry to learn of this issue you've encountered.
This doesn't sound like the typical behavior we'd expect from the app - meaning that there is likely a technical issue occurring here, which we'll be happy to help you with.
Normally, when your desktop app is unlocked, you should be able to open the browser (assuming that those options @denalb mentioned are active), and the 1Password for Windows app should trigger your extension in Firefox to unlock. Since it's not doing that, we'll definitely be interested to look into this for you.
In order for us to do so, we'll need to discuss specifics of your system - so I'll ask that you send us a brief email at support+x@1Password.com. This will connect you with our specialist team who are best-equipped to fix this issue for you. Please make sure to include a link to this discussion, since you've already clearly and extensively described the problem. That'll give us a great place to start.
Again, we're happy to set this issue right for you, and look forward to doing so. Thank you for bringing the issue to our attention!
(One final note: I'm not sure what you referred to when you mentioned that "There was talk about you fixing this", but I do want to let you know that some of these issues differ by platform - so if you've seen conversations revolving around 1Password for Mac or Linux, those may not necessarily apply to your situation. In any case, we'll certainly do our best to help fix the issue, and have a good track record of doing so.)
