Windows/Firefox 1P extension inactive and needs to be reinstalled frequently

For several weeks now, if I need to login to a website I will find that the 1Password extension on Firefox (98.02) is visible but inert. No response to clicks at all.

Removing the extension and reinstalling it will reactivate it, but, of course, my settings are gone again.

In addition, today it is not autofilling. Both for this (1p community) site and another I can see the entry, but the values are not autofilled.

(I use 1password more on macos (firefox and chrome), and that doesn't seem to have the same problems)

Maybe it would all work bettter if I wasn't lying down for windows instead of sitting up properly as I do for for the mac.

thanks for any suggestions that will work better than changing my posture will.

Anita Graham

Hey @AnitaGraham! Thanks for reaching out to us here. I'm sorry for the trouble you're experiencing on your Windows machine.

Based on your description, it sounds like the 1Password extension in Firefox is having trouble communicating properly. I'd be glad to dig into this a bit further with you.

    • Do you have the 1Password desktop app installed as well? Or are you using the browser extension on it's own?
    • After you uninstall/reinstall the extension, does it stop working with any sort of pattern? Or is it intermittent?

If you are using the desktop app, you can give these steps a shot:

    1. Right-click the 1Password icon in the browser toolbar and click 'Settings'.
    2. Scroll down to "Integrate with 1Password app" at the end of General section and toggle it off.
    3. Scroll down to "Accounts & vaults".
    4. Sign out of your account and Sign in again.

After that, please give your computer a restart to ensure no pending process prevents 1Password from connecting with the browser. Once your computer turns back on, continue with the following:

    1. Open and sign into the 1Password desktop app.
    2. Then go ahead and re-open the web browser and turn on the "Integrate with 1Password app" option again.

    Let me know! 🙂
