Bug: Hidden Vault Suggested for Saves

I have a Vault Collection which has a particular vault disabled[1]. Items are correctly not shown in the list of items. However, when saving items it is selectable (and in my particular, often becomes the default).

I believe when a vault collection is active with a vault disabled, that vault should not be in the list of destinations. As a fallback: if it's thought that it should be there for some reason, I would definitely think it shouldn't ever be the default.

[1] - Background is I never use my "Personal" vault, so I always want it disabled so things aren't accidentally put there.

Thanks for sharing your feedback! We appreciate every idea that could make 1Password better.

The purpose of Move is to give users the ability to move their items to any vaults that they want, not only the ones available in the selected collection. Having said that, I will share your feedback with our design and product teams, maybe the design can be changed to give preference to the vaults available in the selected collection.

Hi @ag_maryam. Just to make sure it's clear, this isn't a move operation, but creating a new item. I think it could be argued that a user might expect to see all vaults when performing a Move because they're specifically thinking about the destination vault. When saving a new login, for example, picking a hidden vault is very unexpected.

Thank you for the clarification, I looked into Create item and you should only see your Personal vault as the suggestion if all the vaults on your collection are shared vaults and you do not have permission to create an item in any of those vaults.
Would you please check and see if you have permission to create on those vaults and still seeing Personal vault is picked up. If so, please let us know so we can get that bug fixed up!

Thanks, @ag_maryam. It does sound like a bug then. Here are all the details:

• This is a family account, of which I am the family organizer
• I have 6 total accounts, with full access to all of them: the default Personal (which I don't use), 4 shared, one private
• I have a collection with all the vaults enabled, except the Personal account.
• Regardless of whether they're enabled, all vaults appear in the destination vault combobox when creating new items. Sometimes the default is the Personal vault (appears first in the list?) and sometimes it's the first enabled vault alphabetically. Neither of these is really ever what I want.

I would humbly like to suggest it should be have like this:

• Vaults not visible in the active collection should not appear in the destination vault list. (That's why the collection is active!)
• The default selected vault should be the last vault saved to. If that is not available (e.g., recently hidden or deleted, or no previous saves), then the first visible vault alphabetically is reasonable.

(I believe 1P 7 behaved like this.)

I have talked to our design and feature group, the current behaviour based on our design is as follow:

• Suggest the first vault in the collection sorted ascending by creation date
• If no vaults in the collection has the permission for creation, suggest the the first vault in the unlocked account sorted ascending by creation date
• Suggestion combo box should show all the available vaults grouped by the accounts that are unlocked.

Having said that I have shared your feedback with our design and product teams so they can decide how a feature like your suggestion fits into the product roadmap.
