1Password 8 Interface feedback
I'm finding I dislike the new 1Password 8 (beta) interface when adding a new entry. Previously, adding section information was simple since there were already a couple of dummy sections in place where it was made very clear where you could just type, and adding fields was easy since there was a simple popup on the right that allowed you to change the data type on the fly or after the fact.
In v8, you have to keep clicking popup menus to add sections, then another to add data fields. If you want to change the field type you have to delete that entry and start again. When you do get a new field in place, the cursor goes to the data field first and not the title field. So another click to move the cursor. Then you have to erase the prefilled field type text before typing anything - another click; you can't just type your entry.
I know changing this would be a larger effort than you'd like for the 1st release, but please do something to make this better. Too much clicking and maneuvering and popup selections to get a simple section or section data field in place.
I'd also recommend condensing the display a bit (or make the condensation control in the preferences work on the section and data fields also). The sections and data fields have way too much white space in between which more frequently requires scrolling down to see everything, or scanning a lot of screen real estate to find something.

Hi @dfz1password and @thewellington. 👋
Thanks for these thoughts on 1Password 8. I have passed the feedback about new item creation on to our development team, so they can take this into consideration. We appreciate knowing how you feel about this!
Regarding the information density: we have implemented some new options of this as of a recent Beta. In the Settings / Preferences menu, you can now go to Appearance > Density and choose either Comfortable or Compact options, which allows you to determine the .
There's an option for interface zoom too, which as you might expect changes the overall size of items (if not the relative amount of whitespace), so that folks who prefer more items per acre of screen real estate can take advantage of this as well.
@thewellington: we do have an open request for the ability to change an item's field type. I have just added a vote on your behalf to that feature request. 👍

Also I miss the ability to pull an item up using command-option-\ and perform some edits to it. Now I need to open up the whole 1Pass application, find the item, edit it there.
I was just discussing this in another forum thread the other day with someone who requested the ability to edit from Quick Access, which would be one way to address this. And similarly, I'm happy to add your vote to that feature request.

Lastly, I just want to thank you for letting us know where you're finding the rough edges. We appreciate the opportunity to learn where there's work still to do (and where we're exceeding your expectations, too). Best regards from the 1Password team!
