Double entries after upgrade

I have recently upgraded from 1Password 6 to 1Password 7
Now when I open the App I see double entries for everything.
One shows up under "Our Family > Private"
The other shows up under "iCloud > Primary"

This "upgrade" has been nothing but confusing. I think part of it is that 1Password has changed terminology. And honestly I can't figure out where anything is stored anymore. I need to understand this and get it cleaned up before I can introduce others in my family to this application. Help would be appreciated.

1Password Version: 7.9.4
Extension Version: 4.7.5.90
OS Version: 11.6.1

  • Hi @glennhubbers:

It sounds like you previously were syncing via iCloud, and have migrated to a 1Password account. Does that sound right? Let me know, and I can dig in further with you.

That is probably right, though I am not 100% certain.

I previously had 1password 4 through 6, and yes I had them synced with iCloud so that I could access my passwords on my iPhone and iPad as well as my Mac.

When 1password 7 came along with the subscriptions I avoided that for as long as I could, but I'm finally at the point where I need to upgrade my OS and my password manager with it. So I paid for and installed 1password 7.

Honestly I don't know how version 7 stores the items if not via iCloud.
Your suggestion is that it works differently now, which makes sense with what I am seeing.

  • Hey @glennhubbers:

In short, 1Password memberships allow you to store your items directly in your 1Password account, rather than using a third party sync service like iCloud or Dropbox.

I'd like to get you in touch with our dedicated migration specialists to confirm that everything has migrated successfully to your new 1Password account. Please send an email to support+tradein@1password.com and include a link to this thread: https://1password.community/discussion/129186/double-entries-after-upgrade#latest

You'll receive a reply from BitBot with a support ID that looks something like [#ABC-12345-678]. Post that here, and I'll be able to connect the dots in our system.
