1p v8 mac: lost ability to click to copy user/pw

I understand the UX has changed in various ways with v8, some of the functionality that I have grown accustom to have also changed. In v7, one "click flow" I use quite often to get passwords for non-browser apps was:

1. search 1pw (from the Mac menu bar) for my login
2. the result showed the complete item, so i click first on the user name (which copies to clipboard)
3. then i would click again on the pw field to get i the clipboard.

In v8, the UX has changed significantly here with a small result set. In the footer of the dialog (seen in the attached image) it has instructions for keyboard combos to copy user name and pw. It is not longer possible to do this with the mouse. This is a functionality loss. If nothing else, allow me to click on that screen text (make it a button?) to copy to clipboard for each the user name and password.

This has been requested here a few times before. Makes total sense. I click on these things that look like buttons to me all the time, of course to no effect ☹️

Quick Access is indeed all-new, and for a number of reasons we're quite excited about its powers. It does mean that some things will work differently from previous generations of 1Password, as you've noted. In case it's helpful, there's a couple ways to fill logins from Quick Access.

1. First, you can take advantage of the awesome new Universal Autofill feature. This works in both your browser and on desktop apps, so let's take the example of signing into the Zoom app. In this case, you'd:

*open the Zoom app
*press Cmd + \ (which opens Quick Access)
*type the username, and the result should appear
*press Return

and with that, the whole thing - username, password, and even 2FA if you have it - will be pasted into Zoom and you'll be automatically signed in. This can save a lot of clicks!

2. If you'd like to use the mouse, you can also use the Open and Fill or Autofill option when you're in Quick Access.

   You can also click the vertical-ellipses button for any given item, and copy the username and password to clipboard from there.

So while you may not be able to drag-and-drop in the same way from this window, we have tried to provide options that essentially use the Mac's accessibility capabilities to do that function for you (and actually remove some effort from the process).

Lastly, it is possible to click-and-drag usernames and passwords from the main 1Password for Mac app as well. 🙌

We hope this gives a you a couple great ways to fill your information. Let me know if you find these helpful, and I'm happy to pass on any feedback you'd like to offer to our development team too.

Hey, @thewellington. I think I addressed all of the concerns you mentioned in a reply to your own post. If things still aren't working for you, could you reply there and we'll take a look?

@PeterG_1P thanks for the tips, these are a good, new alternatives. I was not aware of the Universal Autofill feature (nor a list of other features). It was not in the 1Password help in the app. I googled and found a blogger mention it. Can you point me to a resource of all v8 new features?

Secondly, sadly, I tried what you suggested with Zoom, and using cmd+\ caused 1Password to crash. Two successive times. Are you all aware of this? I just switched to nightly and I have "1Password for Mac 8.8.0 80800010, on NIGHTLY channel"

The three-dot menu worked for me.

Ok, thanks! We've had two other reports of a crash when using Universal Autofill on Catalina. As far as I'm aware, the macOS crash report interface that opens when the app crashes should contain the stack trace. Could you send us a copy of that? To follow up here, this issue was fixed a couple weeks ago in version 80800098 (nightly), so it will be fixed in the next beta and stable releases.
