Not working in Safari

Just installed 1Password and having tons of issues with it. I have finally got both my accounts to show up in Safari but clicking on the 1password icon in a password field or username field does not work, nothing happens.

Using quick access to fill in a website does not work, the website opens but it does not fill in the information. The only way to get it to fill in the form is to use the 1password icon in Safari's toolbar.

You see 1Password is also about productivity but I feel like I just spend all my time now trying to fix issues with 1Password. I still can't use both accounts on the Safari extension for iOS. I gave up working with support on this about a year ago because I just don't have time to spend on things like this.

1Password Version: 8
Extension Version: Not Provided
OS Version: 12.3.1

    Jumping in, this does not seem to work for me as well regarding autofill. Also how do I create a login for a website as this new user interface is not at all intuitive as the previous?????

  • Hey @matthew2 and @kevan_Dalby:

    This definitely doesn't sound like the experience we want you to have. Just as a quick first step, if you navigate to https://fill.dev/form/registration-email and click in the email field, are you shown your email addresses from your Identity items?

    Let me know!

    Hi, I follow the link but it does not display the same ( other than my email address ) ie I am not getting the create masked email.... option. When I enter the password I get a nonsense message:
    ( Password deleted for obvious reasons! )

    Array
    (
    [email] => [ -- Removed by 1Password staff -- ]
    [password] => *****************************
    [password_confirmation] => *******************************
    )

  • Hey @kevan_Dalby:

    Thanks for following up. The Masked Email option is only enabled if you've enabled our Masked Email integration with Fastmail. If you're seeing your email address suggested in-line however, then 1Password for Safari should definitely be able to offer to fill and save your Login items. Is there a specific site you're running into trouble with, or is it all sites where you're not being offered your Login items to fill? Additionally, as the Support Community is a public forum, I've removed some of your personal information from that post.

    Hi. Thanks for that. It is or seems to be all sites. I have tried going to sites that used to open from 1pw but don’t now and also tried new sites that require password and user name inputs but I am not getting anything from 1pw8

    I have the same issue: the 1Password pop-up not showing up in form fields, also on the site Jack shared. I have Show autofill menu on field focus enabled. Latest Safari on latest macOs on MBP M1 Pro.

    Yeah nothing shows up on https://fill.dev/form/registration-email. Clicking the icon does nothing and clicking on the email field does nothing.

    I'm having trouble too. Can't even get the 1Password extension to load in Safari after upgrading to v8.

  • @beverson

    Just to confirm you've installed 1Password for Safari and it's visible in your Applications folder, and you've launched it at least once, correct? If so, let's try refreshing Safari's extension registrations. To do this, follow these steps:

    1. Close all open web browsers.
    2. Open the Terminal app on your Mac:
    3. Paste the following into Terminal and then press enter to run the command: /System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/Frameworks/LaunchServices.framework/Support/lsregister -f -R /Applications/Safari.app
    4. Open Safari and try to enable 1Password for Safari again.

    Also, the menu icon is also not working like it did

    Can you elaborate more on this? Scratch that. I see your post above. It may be best to get help from the extensions specialists. Please email us using support@1password.com. Be sure to use the email address tied to the account in question.

    Yep, I found that Terminal command in another thread and tried it — that fixed my problem right away.

  • Thank for the update. Have fun with the new goodies.

    I'm also having these issues in Safari with v8. I ran the Terminal command, which did then allow for the extension to appear, and I enabled it. However the dropdown is not showing in any login field – the 1password icon shows up at the edge of the field, but can't be interacted with (and weirdly becomes detached from the field sometimes on scroll). To log in I have to use the 1password icon in the toolbar, and manually click autofill. Double clicking like in past versions no longer works. This... does not seem like the intended behaviour.
    Password suggestion in password fields, however, seems to work fine.

    Just installed 1Password 8 and installed the extension app. For some reason, the extension didn't show up in Safari even after rebooting. I had to use the lsregister command to make it show up as outlined by @ag_tommy above.

  • @ptpittman

    Is the behaviour you mentioned something you can reliably reproduce? Is this happening on all the sites you visit, or is it a specific one?

    Autofill works via button in Safari toolbar and Cmd+\, but nothing happens if I click icon in the for fields - is this the same issue?
    So disappointed due to the fact that 1password for Safari is a dedicated app BTW, it keeps appearing in Spotlight...
    And obviously disappointed by not working Safari extension. 1password 7 had much slicked UX

    today was "the day". I registered at a web site, 1password in Safari asked if I wanted to create the account, but the button was inactive. And guess what? It didn't even save autogenerated password. 1password used to be reliable, now it's not. Fancy UI, poor UX, unstable extensions. And I'm not talking about elephant in the room (cloud).

    I ran into this same issue this week, which I resolved today after seeing the advice to refreshing the Safari extensions registrations via Terminal. I installed a set of AdGuard extensions earlier this week and I can't help but wonder if the two events are related (I noticed in another thread that someone else with this issue also had the AdGuard extensions installed). Any thoughts? I've uninstalled AdGuard for now, and am a little skittish about reinstalling them.

    I am having significant issues with your extension and Safari now that I just upgraded to Monterey 12.4. I am using 1Password 8 with the latest Safari extension. I can no longer use your extension and log into many of the websites I use like Wells Fargo bank, Foundry and others. What is happening is the site continuously reloads and reloads and it never stops. Nor does it settle down and let me log in. I uninstalled the Extension and that fixes the problem. Until you get this fixed I cannot use 1Password Extension with Safari.

    @rimcrazyph

    What is the login page you are using for Wells Fargo? I do not experience a reload. I used https://connect.secure.wellsfargo.com for my test.

    Out of curiosity have you restarted the Mac after the update? I found I needed to do that to get Safari settled on my end for an issue unrelated to 1Password.

    That is the site I am using. All that site does is try to load and then just hangs. I uninstall your extension and I can login all be it, it does not autofill. The Foundry website I use is a 3D application and their login is for their forum. (https://community.foundry.com/discuss). Unless you have joined this obviously you can't test it.

    Another thing I noticed is I was using the Tab Group feature of Safari. I like that but it has issues with reloading or not loading at all. I have quit using that feature of Safari too. I was using that at first when I noticed the issues logging in. I first deleted all the Tab Groups and quit using that feature of Safari. I shut down and restarted and but found I was still having issues logging into the sites I mention. I then uninstalled the 1Password Extension and found I could login ok.
