I saved a new login in 1Password 8. Here are the problems I ran into.
I opened the main 1Password app and created a new login. Here is an illustrated walkthrough of the issues I ran into:
I can't arrow down to select "login". I either have to use the mouse, or start typing:
There's a bunch of horizontal tiles cluttering up the display of what I care about, which is selecting "login" (or "secure note" or "passport" or whatever). The descriptions sound like clicking on one will lead me to help tips for getting started, which is not useful when I'm in the middle of trying to save a new item. (Or maybe this is useful for new users, but I have hundreds of items already in my 1Password database.)
Minor visual bug: the text prompt in the input field is cut off:
The next screen has a showstopper issue. I'm creating a login and want 1Password to generate a secure password for me. But the password generation prompt is inaccessible when the window is sized smaller than the (IMO) massive default size. A UX/design oversight mixed with the constraints of Electron:
Another issue with this login creation screen: it's not keyboard friendly. You can't hit enter to save the item, as you'd expect. And if you have the password generator open, hitting [esc] doesn't close the password generator popup.
OK so maybe I can save the item, then edit it to use the password generator. But I run into the same off-screen issue here, mixed with an inability to scroll the content pane to see the password generator:
It's really hard to keep my frustration at bay while using v8 because there are just so. many. rough. edges. I just want to get my work done, not file bugs on 1Password all day. I'm doing this because whatever internal standards you have for releasing this seem to be lower than for previous versions. This is a product I depend on all day, every day, but what you've released is still beta quality.
