Does 1PW8 support Smart Folders?
With the release of the new Mac 1PW8, I don't suppose you've finally decided to support Smart Folders?
I've been using Smart Folders for years now, and find them incredibly useful for sorting my logins and data for different personal projects and also client projects (e.g. A smart folder to sort all my client hosting logins, another for client website logins etc.). It allows me to do this by matching multiple tags.
I've resisted moving to your subscription services purely because you've never supported Smart Folders, but now that you're only doing subscriptions, I assume that support for v7 will likely come to a halt at some time in the future, forcing me to purchase a subscription if I want to keep my 1PW app up-to-date.
If you still don't support Smart Folders, do you at least provide some sort of functionality whereby we can manage tags easier (e.g. the ability to filter or favourite certain tags so they're kept separate from all the other tags)? At the moment, I have a huge long list of tags in 1PW. Having Smart Folders allows me to essentially filter all these tags down to the ones that I use 95% of the time. If I have to scroll or search through a long list of tags every time I want to find client logins or client data, then there's really no point in me moving to a subscription as it will only make 1PW considerably harder and slower to use.
Also, is there anyway (either in 1PW7 or 1PW8) to bulk update logins (i.e. select multiple logins and add/edit or remove tags to them all at once)? If you don't support Smart Folders, moving across to your subscription will be a HUGE pain in the ass, and will be an even bigger pain if I have to update thousands of passwords individually, just to change the way I'm using tags.
Thanks in advance for your help.

@abriden Yeah, I can definitely see that Collections are no where near as usable or flexible as Smart Folders. I'm not interested in having multiple vaults for different logins and constantly switching between Collections, seems like a massive pain in the ass, and would only make 1PW less usable.

Thanks for your feedback on this. As it currently stands, 1Password 8 doesn't have any sort of Smart Folders or saved searches functionality. With that said, I absolutely see how that functionality is useful, and I've added you both to a feature request on this.
Also, is there anyway (either in 1PW7 or 1PW8) to bulk update logins (i.e. select multiple logins and add/edit or remove tags to them all at once)?
You can select multiple items in a list, and drag them to a new tag, or right click the tag in the sidebar and delete the tag.

Hi @Jack.P_1P,
Thanks for adding that feature request. Thanks also for the info on updating tags. With regards to deleting tags from multiple Logins though, if I right-click a tag in the sidebar and click delete, that deletes the tag entirely (i.e. removes the tag completely from 1PW), it doesn't just remove the tag from the selected items. I just tested this and the tag is completely removed from within 1PW.

@ag_tommy Thanks for confirming that. At the moment, moving over to a subscription for 1PW8 sounds like quite a downgrade, unfortunately. Hopefully you'll consider adding support for Smart Folders in the future, or at the very least, the ability to favourite tags so some can be kept separate from the rest for easier/quicker access, along with a better way to manage tags as well. At the moment, to move to 1PW8, I would need to edit thousands of logins to change the tags and it sounds like the only way to do this is to edit every single login individually, which would take hours. Even then, with no Smart Folders or favouriting tags, using 1PW8 would be considerably more cumbersome than 1PW7. It's disappointing when companies release updated versions and remove functionality that people have been using for years.

ability to favourite tags so some can be kept separate from the rest for easier/quicker access,
That's an interesting idea. I don't think I have seen it mentioned. I like it. I'm not sure why it never dawned on me. As they say, live and learn. Thanks for sharing.
I am looking forward to managing tags becoming easier in 1Password 8. I invested in tags heavily years ago. So I'm there with you. The 1Password 8 you see today will be changed as we move forward. Today's version is not the last, only one small step in that ever forward march.
