1Password 8 not seeing that I already have two factor enabled for a site.

I'm looking at an entry in 1P8 for my Evernote account and it's telling me two factor authentication is available, but, I already have it enabled for Evernote.com through my authenticator app. 1Password is asking me to scan a QR code but there isn't one as 2FA is already active. How can I get to use 1P8 as my authenticator in this situation? And why didn't it know I already had it active?
Thanks

1Password only looks to see if the site offers 2FA and if there is an item for it in your login. It does not know about other authenticators. You'll most likely want to set up 1Password to be your authenticator. As to how to get that data out of you other app, that would be a question for its developer. The hard way around would be to turn off 2FA and then set it up with 1Password.

Use 1Password as an authenticator for sites with two-factor authentication

ah OK. I'll leave it as it is then. Thanks

  • I was in your position many years back. I took them about one a week. Many less sites offered it back then. I remember how tedious this was. It was not a huge undertaking but not fun either. Wishing you luck if you decide to move over. That said, I am ancient and I suspect the process would be 100 times easier nowadays.

    Cheers,

It's really easy. Just go to the account settings for Evernote. Disable 2FA. Reenable it but this time use 1P, not the other authenticate app. I moved all my accounts over to 1P. Very easy, and it will fill in the code automatically when you log in to a 2FA protected website.

  • Thanks for sharing @fuchsr! 😁
