Changed password in Safari - not updating in 1Password 8 for Mac...

Whenever I use the 1Password extension for Safari (v2.3.3) to change the password for a site and update it in 1Password, the change is not immediately reflected in 1Password 8.7.0 for Mac. I need to quit 1Password each time via the menu bar and relaunch it.
I honestly wonder what took you so long to release 1Password 8 for Mac since the release appears like a Beta to me... there are lots of strings not yet localized in German, for example. It's a wild mix between English and German.

1Password Version: 8.7.0
Extension Version: 2.3.3
OS Version: 12.4

Are you using a VPN? If so please try with it disabled. A VPN can prohibit communication in some situations. More translations are coming. Hang in there.

No VPN - direct Internet connection.

Please email us using support@1password.com. Be sure to use the email address tied to the account in question. Before you do that can you try the following and include it in your message?

    • Please use a test item to avoid personal data use. A new item will help with testing.

Make a change in 1Password in the browser and then check 1Password.com. Is the change present there? Notate the results.
Check 1Password for Mac. Is the change there? Notate the results.

Reverse the steps and go from the Mac to 1Password.com. Is the change present there? Notate the results.
Check 1Password in the browser. Is the change there? Notate the results.

Please include these with your email. We may need additional information. However, one of my email support colleagues can best determine that.

    Thanks,

The problem does indeed seem to be with syncing from the 1Password.com vault to 1Password 8 for Mac. The other way around works, sync from the Safari extension to 1Password.com also works immediately, but changes on 1Password.com are only reflected in the Mac app after quitting and restarting it... I'll send a support e-mail as requested.

  • Thank you @TimHH. We'll look forward to assisting you with this by email and getting things resolved. Thank you again for letting us know of the issue!

I have a similar problem. 1Password in Safari offered to update the password for a site, but the new password is not saved to 1Password and retains the previous one. The update does not reflect on 1password.com. Creating a NEW entry seems to work fine. It only seems to be a problem when updating an existing entry.

On an unrelated note, I have been having trouble trying to reset my password for the community forum. I keep getting an error of "Failed to authenticate your password reset request. Try using the reset request form again." when following the link from the email. I've had to create a new account with a different email address.

I've been in contact with e-mail support. It turns out the issue is intermittent - sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Today it works fine, but I've still reinstalled the app and cleared the local database as suggested by support. Fingers crossed...

  • Sounds good @TimHH We'll be ready to help if things change. Please continue the discussion will my colleague via email if need.

    Have a great weekend!

Please check for any VPN's sometimes they break authentication and registration here in the community. That's by far the most common reason I see by a long shot.

Regarding Safari. I would like to ask you to email us using support@1password.com. Be sure to use the email address tied to the account in question. We may need to look at logs and email would be the best option for that.
