Number of items no longer displayed for categories
The number of items in a category is no longer displayed in the sidebar and I can't find a switch in the settings to change this.
Aside from this it would be very useful to be able to reorder the category items manually.
Please provide more configurability for the interface.
Thanks,
Norbert

Hi @HelenBubz / @statto1927 / @ronread / @NorbertR:
You can see the number of items in a list in one of two places:
- At the bottom of the list
- In the sort selector
Let me know how that works out for you all!

Hi Jack,
Thanks for your reply on this, but this is a very unsatisfying downgrade. I have seen this before and ignored it intentionally for my initial post.
The number of items per category needs to be visible in the category overview on the left as it was in all versions before 8.
I don't want to enter every individual category to check for the number of items and I can't imagine anyone else wants this.Another major issue for me is the downgrade in flexibility for the password generation. There are further issues like LaunchBar integration and most likely many more.
For me the upgrade to version 8 is a downgrade in functionality and thus rather disappointing. I am mulling over reverting back to version 7 to work with a more functional program again.

I think I've responded somewhere else on this too.
Seems ridiculous with all the “white space” available on screen that this isn’t available.
Why remove it? Serves no purpose, and makes the user experience worse than it was before.0 -
@NorbertR and @statto1927
We have a feature request open to add the number of items to the sidebar and I've added your request there. @statto1927, I see that my colleague Tommy has already added you. 🙂
Can you both tell me a little more about how you use the number of items? In the past, I know that users used to rely on these numbers to make sure that their devices were synced but with 1Password 8 all devices will instantly reflect any changes made on another device since everything is now being handled by 1Password.com.

Personally I just like to be able to see the number of items I have overall and by category at a glance without having to go digging for it.

I can only second to @statto1927. His description is perfect. Even so it might not be necessary to check on your syncing any longer, I still would like to be able to see an overview of the status in a top level view without digging and having to create my own overview list. Additionally I would like to be able to reorder items in the sidebar. Is this part of the feature request as well?

Hi NorbertR, we appreciate the additional detail, thank you.
And as we do have a separate feature request for the ability to re-order elements of the sidebar, I have cast a vote on your behalf there as well. Thanks for letting us know how we can better meet your needs!

just out of curiosity how many votes does a feature have to get before it is acted on?

There's no hard and fast rule, @HelenBubz. But we do take community feedback seriously! And we consider requests in light of:
- how much of a benefit would this be for the user, according to what they've told us?
- how many people would be affected by the change?
- what are the potential drawbacks to making that change?
- how much time and effort does it take to implement? How soon can we get it done?
- should the requested change supercede some other project we've already got in the works?
and so on. So the conversations can be remarkably detailed, but we're always doing our best - somewhat like a well-honed restaurant kitchen, I'd imagine - to produce on a consistent schedule and keep the improvements coming in a way that is likely to delight you, and which is internally sustainable for us as well. I hope that makes sense!

Even so version 8 is a complete rewrite of 1Password I am still surprised how many important and useful features were removed that were the result of a long term development with lots of feature requests and considerations in the past over many 1Password versions.
Why were all this features suddenly no longer important and now have to be requested again in a lengthy procedure? This is really puzzling me …
Is there any place where I can vote for more configurability in password generation to be restored(number of numbers, number of special characters)? Generally I am missing the password generator that was integrated into the 1Password menubar item and allowed me to create passwords right from there.

I've responded to your feature request regarding a password generator in the other thread.
I agree that user feedback is vital and it's the reason why we have so many 1Password folks active on these forums. We're genuinely interested and eager to learn how we can make 1Password even better so that 1Password continues to help organize and protect your digital life. Please keep the suggestions and feedback coming! 😊

I agree
Seems silly to vote on a feature that was there that was removed in an update to put it back.
and I agree with this as well
Personally I just like to be able to see the number of items I have overall...
