1Password Failing to Sync

I have tried closing 1Password and re-launching it, locking it for a period of time and unlocking it, and I even tried to find a Force Sync option (which doesn't appear to exist). My Chrome browser extension (1Password - Password Manager v2.3.4) is showing the old password, as is the Windows desktop client for 1Password on two of my other PCs, but my 1Password app on the desktop for this PC is showing the new password.

NOTE: This PC with the above error is the same PC I had to downgrade to 1Password version 8.6.0 because of the frontend/access denied error.

  • Hi @IFireflyl, sorry to learn you've run into this problem. Let's get into it!

    First, I just want to let you know that I have edited the post above in order to remove your account UUID from being displayed publicly. While I don't think this posed any serious risk, better safe than sorry. OK, on to the issue.

    Looking at the logs:

    [1P:op-app\src\app\backend\sync.rs:78] Failed to sync account [UUID] Error: SyncFailed(HttpError(/rustc/c8dfcfe046a7680554bf4eb612bad840e7631c4b\library\core\src\result.rs:1897, IoError(IoError(connect error))))

    This is pretty much what you might guess: the 1Password sync service trying and failing to sync your app, due to an HTTP connection error. Do you have a proxy or VPN running on this network (or device), by any chance? That would be a good place for us to start.

    I do have a VPN for this device as I log into work-related websites through this particular PC.

  • Hello again @|Firefly|, thanks for confirming. Are you able to disable the VPN temporarily on this device and restart 1Password to see if the syncing resumes. If this helps, I'd suggest taking a look at the 1Password ports and domains support page to whitelist the port and domains noted.
