Why is the release channel setting being ignored?

in Desktop betas (Mac, Windows, and Linux)

A while ago, I changed 1Password 8 on macOS to use the production channel after previously being on the nightly channel but the app now appears to be using the beta channel.

1Password Version: 8.8.0
Extension Version: 2.3.5
OS Version: macOS 12.4
