Password updating process. Unexpected behavior.

I update my financial website passwords regularly. This is a new problem I am experiencing with 1PW 8. I choose the suggested password, I elect to update the 1PW record, I proceed to the field that requires me to retype the new password, I paste in what should be the new password from the clipboard. It appears that when I select the retype field 1PW is updating the record with a new suggested password without my approval. When I check the new password in the application it is not the one I selected. I will have to develop a workaround next time. This used to work flawlessly.

1Password Version: 8.7.3
Extension Version: 2 . 3 . 6
OS Version: Mac 12.4 (21F79)
Browser:_ Edge

  • Hi @Airbusky:

1Password in Edge should be automatically suggesting to fill and save passwords in change password fields without you needing to manually copy and paste.

If you click the suggested password, 1Password in Edge will fill the new password into both fields and prompt you to update your existing item. Let me know how you get on with that!

    Hello Jack,
Yes, that is how it was working for me in Safari. Edge was not filling in the confirmation box, so I was doing it manually, which created all these issues. I appear to be the only one with this problem, so maybe my system somehow.

  • Hi @Airbusky:

If you're willing to share the name of the financial institution, either here in public, or if you'd prefer via email at support+x@1password.com we can definitely take a closer look.
