If you need help upgrading to a 1Password membership, please email us at support+tradein@1password.com so we can assist you. πŸ™‚

Since we use 1Password to help us be more secure, it's important to stay up to date with not only 1Password, but also OS and browser updates, which contain important security fixes.

While you're entitled to use the version of 1Password you purchased a license for on your compatible devices indefinitely, if you're using an outdated version of 1Password, upgrading to the latest version of 1Password would require migrating to a 1Password membership.

Support Options

As we move into the future of 1Password, we're more limited on the support options we can provide for previous versions of 1Password. If you're using a standalone vault, the only support we're able to provide for you at this point is migrating to a 1Password account.

The reason why we're able to offer the great support for 1Password we pride ourselves on is that we use it every day. As we've grown, fewer and fewer of us use standalone vaults on a daily basis to the point where none of us do. We're no longer able to offer support for standalone syncing issues at the level we expect.

Outdated Software

While it's a common refrain, the easiest thing you can do for your digital security is to keep software up to date. This applies to both 1Password, as well as your operating system and browser. As browsers and operating systems update and change behaviors and APIs, it's necessary for applications and extensions to stay up to date with those changes to ensure functionality.
