Unlock via Chrome extension using TouchID

How can I permanently enable unlocking using TouchID in the Chrome extension on MacOS?

It seems like this works sometimes, but mostly not .. forcing me to enter my very long (i.e. typo-prone) password.

1Password Version: 1Password 7 Version 7.9.5 (70905002) Mac App Store
Extension Version: Version 2.4.2
OS Version: MacOS Monterey 12.3.1 (21E258)
Browser:_ Chrome 104.0.5112.79 (Official Build) (arm64)

I upgraded to 1Password 8 (desktop) on my mac, and suddenly TouchID is working with the plugin! Yay!

Advice from 1Password support was to reboot my mac. This seems to have resolved the issue.

    Hi @jlaksdfpqwiuenasdf:

Thanks for confirming. In that case, I'd like to ask you to create a diagnostics report from your Mac as well as a console log:

    Sending Diagnostics Reports (Mac)

Save a console log for 1Password in your browser

Attach the diagnostics and console log to an email message addressed to support+forum@1password.com.

    With your email please include:

You should receive an automated reply from our BitBot assistant with a Support ID number. Please post that number here. Thanks very much!

I quit both Chrome and 1Password. I launched 1Password and authenticated using TouchID. I then launched Chrome but it doesn't share the unlocked state from the app. Instead, the form fields show "Press the 1Password icon in your browser's toolbar to unlock"

and the 1Password icon in the toolbar asks for the master password.

    Hi @tnixon42 / @jlaksdfpqwiuenasdf:

The 1Password desktop app definitely can share a lock state with 1Password in the browser, so if that's not what you're seeing, we can definitely take a closer look. Just as a quick first step, if you quit both Chrome and 1Password for Mac and then relaunch them, does that improve your state of play? Let me know!

+1 Here - this used to work with 1PasswordX, and now it's gone... very annoying reversion.
