This morning the classic plugin for Firefox for 1P v7 stopped working, coincidentally(?) just as 1P v8 was announced.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the plugin and completely quitting and restarting 1P, in several orders, but no luck.

The Firefox debugging page for the plugin has the message:

Warning details: Reading manifest: Warning processing key: An unexpected property was found in the WebExtension manifest.

The log messages start:

1Password version 4.7.5 loaded @ Thu Aug 11 2022 09:32:46 GMT-0400 (Eastern Daylight Saving Time) global.min.js:127:404

with the last few lines repeating every few seconds as the 1P icon in the menu bar flashes.

In case it's helpful in debugging here's what's happening with other browsers:

The Chrome plugin says my password is incorrect--I haven't investigate what's wrong with that.

The 1P pane pops up on Safari but the Unlock button doesn't do anything.

1P itself seems to be fine.

The same combination of versions of 1P, plugin and browser is still working on another computer, so it seems to be something localized rather than general (good bye conspiracy theories).

Okay, figured it out. 1Password in the background had put up a popup saying that the browser could not be authenticated, which was apparently blocking any connections from any browsers. Some how that pop up persisted across the restart or maybe it was new on the last time I ran it. But it was behind a lot of other windows, so I didn't notice it until quite a bit later. Once I acknowledged the warning, the browser connected immediately. So, all is good.

  • Hey @crowston:

I'm glad to hear you were able to sort it out. Feel free to get in touch if there's anything else we can help you with!
