1Password 8 on iPad proves the failure of Electron on macOS
1Password 8 on iPad is a treat. It's fast, it feels native, and it's extremely well polished. Even from all the reassuring the CEO did, 1Password 8 on macOS feels like crap. It feels like an Electron app. When you open the app, it unsmoothly loads in, with inconsistent animations and a slow startup time. Icons when scrolling populate slowly. Clicking items often results in delays waiting for fields or images to update. And mind you, this is on a brand new 16" M1 Max MacBook Pro.
This is a plea to just PLEASE use Catalyst and bring the iPad version over to the Mac. This is a genuinely awful experience that could be so easily remedied. There has never been a single Electron app that feels good and 1Password is no exception.

Just wondering if there's something else going on. On my 16GB M1 Macbook Air runs like a champ. Startup is immediate, and I don't see any of the delays you mentioned. Maybe there is a conflict with something else that's running.
