1Password 8 is worse in almost every single way
For the first time since I started using 1Password back in 2009 or 2010, I'm considering moving my entire family plan to another platform.
- Signing into accounts is harder.
- Creating new logins is harder.
- Logging into existing accounts is inconsistent.
- The cmd-\ menu is inconsistent and doesn't work sometimes.
- There are additional clicks to do the same things.
- The design is bloated and over-padded (though the styling is interesting).
I imagine Agilebits is trying to scale. I know that running a tech startup is hard because the only way to get investments is to promise improvements, but whoever is creating the OKRs and KPIs are Agilebits needs to take a step back and think about whether things are progress for the sake of progress. That's the most Delores Umbridge sentence I've ever written, and I feel horrible for doing it... but every single IT admin I know who uses 1Password across their organizations now is so freaking stressed out. They hate it.
To the product team: I am truly sorry that product leadership has pushed you towards this, I imagine there are some stressed-out folks at your team right now. There are a bunch of people out there who are rooting for you, and rooting for the 1Password that I’m sure you were fighting for (but didn't get, because execs always win).
